A different way of traveling
I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel long distances for longer stretches of time on multiple occasions. Each of the trips are very dear to me; they taught me about life and shaped me somehow.
However, my perspective on traveling has changed since becoming a father. I'm still very curious about foreign places and cultures, but I'm even more curious about what's close to me. It feels like I'm growing roots. I would rather stick around, learn about, and appreciate what my country has to offer, and share that experience with my daughter.
If I travel shorter, I feel lighter. If I travel slower, I can easier discover the richness of life around me. If I stay longer upon arriving, I can cultivate relationships and build community with people and nature.
